Alkimia Interactive has shared some news on the RPG Gothic 1 Remake current state and development. This time, the team presented nine short videos, demonstrating the changes in the combat system. Battles were the long living complains of many players since the Demo release, criticized for being clumsy and unresponsive.
The developers listened closely to the community, and worked hard on the improvement of this key gameplay aspect. The demonstration of the new combat system looks much better than it was before, presenting a more fluid and responsive sword fighting,
Key Combat Improvements
- Faster Animations: Shortened the buildup animation timings.
- Smoother Movement: Eliminated the delay when transitioning from movement to an attack.
- Precise Combo Input: Combos now only trigger with the correct attack button press
- Improved Responsiveness: On levels higher than “untrained,” you can now interrupt an attack’s buildup or recovery with a dodge or block. Dodging can now be triggered while blocking.
- Better Camera: Improved the enemy lock-on camera to be more focused and clear.
- Refined Animations: Replaced foot sliding with a proper animation. Added a new, unique animation set for the master level of two-handed weapons.
- Combat Mechanics: Added finishing attacks that complete combo chains and can apply a knockdown on the enemy. Specific enemy attacks can now knock down the hero.
Gothic 1 Remake comes in Q1 2026.
