Gotta Catch ‘Em All – Stern Announces Pokemon Pinball

Stern Pinball, Inc. has officially pulled the cover off one of the most anticipated licensed tables in recent memory: Pokémon by Stern Pinball. Created in collaboration with The Pokémon Company International, the new machine is available now in Pro, Premium, and Limited Edition (LE) models. Since Pokémon first debuted in Japan in 1996, fans worldwide have chased the dream of becoming a top Trainer. Now, for the first time, that journey hits the silverball arena. Powered by Stern’s SPIKE 3 technology, the table blends classic pinball action with catching, battling, and training mechanics inspired by the beloved franchise.

Catch, Train, and Battle on the Playfield

In Pokémon by Stern Pinball, players step into the role of a Trainer exploring four distinct habitats. The goal? Discover, catch, and bond with fan-favorite Pokémon while building the ultimate team. The centerpiece of the playfield is an illuminated, mechanically animated Poké Ball that players shoot to initiate catches. As Pokémon are captured, Trainers build out their Pokémon Collection, progressing through the game’s objectives. The playfield is packed with themed ramps, spinners, and targets, all wrapped in vibrant Pokémon art direction. An animatronic Pikachu reacts dynamically during gameplay, cheering players on as they rack up points and complete objectives. Rival Trainers stand in the way, triggering custom battle sequences that unfold on the display.

And of course, no Pokémon adventure would be complete without trouble. Team Rocket enters the fray, led by Giovanni. The interactive Meowth Balloon toy swoops down into the battle arena to challenge players mid-game. Premium and Limited Edition models add an interactive electromagnet that injects extra chaos into the arena, shifting ball movement unpredictably during battles.

Authentic Pokémon Presentation

Stern has leaned heavily into authenticity. The machine integrates video clips from the original Pokémon animated series, immersing players in the world that defined a generation. Custom voiceovers for Pikachu and Giovanni capture the humor and energy fans expect, while the inclusion of the iconic “Pokémon Theme” song adds a major nostalgia punch. The result is a table that doesn’t just borrow branding, it feels like a playable Pokémon episode.

Insider Connected Integration

Through Stern’s award-winning Insider Connected system, players can log in with their account and track progress across machines and locations. Pokémon caught during gameplay are added to a personal Insider Connected Pokémon Collection, viewable in the Insider Connected app. For competitive players and collectors alike, this adds a persistent progression layer that extends beyond a single session.

Limited Edition Details

For those seeking the ultimate collector’s version, the Limited Edition model is capped at just 750 units worldwide. The LE includes Stern’s updated Expression Lighting System™ and Speaker Expression Lighting System with Pokémon-themed effects, a full-color mirrored backglass, high-definition cabinet decals, custom LE Pokémon pinball armor, and a designer-autographed bottom arch.

Additional upgrades include an enhanced audio system, anti-reflection playfield glass, shaker motor, a sequentially numbered plaque, a signed Certificate of Authenticity, and a digital Insider Connected LE owner’s badge upon registration.

Pricing and Availability

Pokémon by Stern Pinball is available now through authorized distributors and dealers worldwide. The Pro model carries an MSRP of $6,999, the Premium runs $9,699, and the Limited Edition will set you back $12,999. With its blend of nostalgic presentation, mechanical innovation, and franchise authenticity, Stern’s Pokémon table looks positioned to become both a centerpiece for collectors and a must-play attraction in arcades and game rooms alike.
