Acclaim and solo developer Rowan Edmondson have released a free demo for Ground Zero Hero. For this occasion, they also prepared a special gameplay trailer, featuring the insane atmosphere of the game and a dynamic gameplay showcase. The project offers another take on the horde survival roguelike, bringing a vibrant visual style to the table. The game features hand-drawn art inspired by The Simpsons and Rick and Morty.
Ground Zero Hero invites players to explore the Doomsday Desert wasteland, haunted by mutants. Players absorb remains from defeated mutated enemies to stack mutations and build powerful combinations with each run. The game blends bullet hell combat, roguelite progression, and survival mechanics. The demo includes 14 of the game’s 19 total mutations (five available at start, nine unlockable through progression). Each mutation has a “bonkers” form that can be discovered within the demo. The progress carries over to the full release.
