ArenaNet is bringing Guild Wars 2: Visions of Eternity to its conclusion with Code of Creation, the expansion’s final major update. The finale wraps up the story surrounding the mysterious island of Castora, but ArenaNet is also giving players plenty of reasons to stick around after the credits, including new group content, legendary rewards, gear, and another explorable zone.
The story that began with players investigating Inquest activity on Castora has steadily uncovered something much larger hiding beneath the island’s magic-infused surface. After dealing with the island’s seneschals and following Vloxx deeper into Castora during The Only Way, Code of Creation puts players and their allies in a race to stop him from making a decision that could have permanent consequences for Tyria.
That showdown takes players into Leyspring Hollows, the new explorable zone introduced with the finale. Here, players can advance the Rift Amplification Mastery while hunting for new rewards, including the Tenebral Ward armor and Shining Ward weapon set. New relics will also give players another way to tweak their builds.
Players who prefer their MMO content with a few friends, or several dozen of them, will appreciate the new content drop. Nexus of Eternity introduces a new 10-player Raid Encounter, with Challenge and Legendary Modes scheduled to arrive in the weeks following launch. A new five-player Solitary Throne fractal is also coming, along with its own Challenge Mode. And then there is another Nexus of Eternity, this time as a Convergence designed for up to 50 players. The objective is straightforward enough: save Tyria from whatever Vloxx has set in motion, preferably before the clock runs out.
The Wizard’s Vault is getting a new season of objectives as well, bringing another chair, armor, and weapon skins to chase. More dedicated collectors can pursue the Wages of Stars legendary sword and the new Volatile Ascension infusion.
Code of Creation is scheduled to launch next week and is included with Visions of Eternity. The expansion costs $24.99 on Steam and through the official Guild Wars 2 website, with expansion owners receiving access to the complete expansion, including the new finale, at no additional charge.
For an expansion finale, ArenaNet is clearly not treating the ending as a simple goodbye. Players get the conclusion to Castora’s story, but also a sizable collection of new activities designed to keep Tyria busy long after Vloxx’s plans have been dealt with.
