Halo: Combat Evolved Receives a Remake

Developers from Halo Studios and publisher Xbox Game Studios announced a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved. Coming under the title Halo: Campaign Evolved, it promises to bring a graphics upgrade and the brand-new story content. The announcement came along with the gameplay trailer, which demonstrates key changes of the remake.

Halo: Campaign Evolved brings the familiar adventure to the Unreal Engine 5. The game was recreated from the scratch, improving many aspects of the original. The graphics received modern 4K resolution, while in game animations were improved up to date. Moreover, the quality of life was upgraded through the changes in the controls and navigation. The music and voice over were recreated too, offering the players’ a more immersive audio experience. However, the game keeps the split-screen local cooperative on consoles, with the addition of online cross-platform co-op. Up to four players from both PC and consoles can join the mission.

As for the new story content – Halo: Campaign Evolved brings three prequel missions. The events of the arc will occur before the Halo events, featuring such characters as Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson. These new missions will also bring new locations, characters and enemies never seen before. Moreover, the developers promise a new gameplay features to expand game experience.

The remake of Halo: Combat Evolved should become a great opportunity for the new players to join this famous universe. And even more, for the first time in its history, the franchise comes to PlayStation.

Halo: Campaign Evolved comes in 2026 to PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, including Game Pass.
