Microsoft has announced that the free multiplayer beta for the keenly anticipated Halo Infinite is now underway as part of the Xbox 20th anniversary celebration. Both PC and console players can take part during testing ahead of the game‘s full release on December 8, 2021. Season One of the multiplayer component will begin in January 2022. The PC version of the game is only available on Steam and it is, according to stats collectors, burning up the charts with nearly 300,000 concurrent users taking part.
Why is this release a beta? Our previous Multiplayer Technical Previews went a long way to battle-testing our services and infrastructure. But as we prepare for a significant increase in the number of players jumping into the game on launch day, December 8th, we want to ensure all our systems are good-to-go. While you may experience some bumps and bugs during this beta period, it does mark the official start of Season 1, with all-day-one maps and modes enabled as well as the full Season 1 Battle Pass. This means all the Battle Pass and customization items you earn or purchase during the beta will stay with you after December 8th.
The lengthy developer post on Steam provides players with tons of information about how to get started, what features they can expect to find during the beta test and much more.
