Coming from indie studio Lost Token and publisher Dionous Games, Theropods is an upcoming wordless point-and-click adventure that will test your mettle in a prehistoric world with a surprising sci-fi twist. The game has set its release on August 20 and shared the launch trailer that you can find above.
Theropods is a prehistoric adventure with a sci-fi twist. A young hunter sets out to free her tribe from the barbarians who took them. On the way she finds a stranded spaceman with a broken pod and a reason to head the same direction, told entirely without dialogue, subtitles or text.
That’s right, no dialogue trees, no walls of text, no subtitles even. The world itself is the puzzle, and you’re out to solve it.
“Theropods took ten years to make, and honestly, the game it became is exactly why it took that long,” said Kostas Skiftas and Sarah Duffield-Harding, co-founders of Lost Token. “We could have shipped the little 2015 jam version and moved on. Instead we kept rebuilding it until it was the wordless adventure we always wanted it to be. That conviction was the whole point.”
Despite containing no dialogue, subtitles or on-screen text, Theropods supports 103 languages at launch, covering menus and interface across every major market.
