Developer Unfrozen is back with a new reveal for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era. This time, players can learn more about the Hive, the game’s take on the Inferno.
In Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven, it is revealed that Kreegans are more than just devils, they are in fact parasitic alien invaders that spilled over the planet on a day later known as the Night of Shooting Stars. Olden Era embraces their insectoid and hive-like imagery to bring forth a new faction, the Hive.
“Last year we celebrated Valentine’s Day with the everlasting love of Hive Queens and their underlings. Since then, the Hive assimilated and evolved, adapting some of their units into more distinguishable ones, based on the feedback we have received from you! Overwhelm the enemy ranks with Waurmos and dominate the battlefield using the newly added Parasites and Scorpions which replace Gnats and Mantises. Will you resist or embrace the Hive? The game will be kicking off Early Access on April 30, 2026. Here’s what you can expect from Olden Era Early Access:
- Six unique factions: Temple, Dungeon, Schism, Grove, Necropolis, and Hive
- An in-game tutorial
- The first act of the campaign. More acts will be added with the full release of the game
- Premade scenarios with self-contained stories, with even more coming during Early Access
- Classic, Single Hero, and Arena modes, available in both single-player and multiplayer
- Matchmaking, ranked play, and leaderboards for all three modes in multiplayer
- A wide variety of Random Map Generator templates for unlimited replayability
- Hotseat mode, allowing you to play against friends and family one after another on a single PC
- A series of puzzle-style challenges
- A pre-release version of map editor to create your own adventures
