A major patch for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era now live, featuring both new content and bug fixes.
The new game version brings a massive new single-player map and substantial Arena Mode improvements. The developers have enhanced the quality-of-life, tweaked some game balance and fixed numerous bug.
Moreover, the update re-adds the useful option which allows hiding the user interface.
Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era – Patch 13 Overview
- New Single-Player Map: “The Mysterious Island”: The iconic map, most popular custom maps from Heroes of Might and Magic III, now exists Olden Era.
- Arena Mode Update: A series of important functional additions and balance mechanics have been implemented in Arena Mode:
- Hero Starting Bonus: Certain heroes receive an additional starting bonus based on their performance metrics, increasing primary attributes. These bonuses will be dynamically adjusted in future updates.
- Reroll System: Players can refresh offered choices during artifact, spell, and creature draft phases. By default, players have 4 re-roll points, with 1 additional point gained during both the artifact and creature draft phases.
- Creature Specializations: Heroes with creature specializations guarantee the appearance of units of their respective Tier for both players.
- Spell Draft Adjustments: Certain high-power spells offered during draft can no longer exceed Level 1 by default.
- Unit Draft Counts: Adjusted unit draft counts during the creature draft phase.
Balance Changes
- Temple: A substantial overhaul of faction laws, including an extra tier level to all laws that upgrade creatures and numerous cost adjustments.
- Necropolis: Pestilent Lich’s “Death’s Embrace” ability now deals reduced damage and has increased cooldown and casting costs. Hero specialist growth bonuses reduced, and building cost adjustments applied.
- Grove: Qilin units received HP, Defense, and Luck reductions, with adjustments to the “Burst of Energy” sub-skill and building costs.
- Schism: Ferocious Ra’Shoth stats adjusted with Attack and Defense reduced but Initiative increased.
- Hive: Parasite speed reduced, Scorpion Initiative increased, Waurm Initiative lowered, and various building cost adjustments applied.
- Dungeon: Targeted tweaks to laws to strengthen early-game capabilities, including a new “Arcane Knowledge” law.
Multiplayer Template Adjustments
- Mix: Adjusted final battle timings, starting bonuses, and pre-built city structures. Reduced guard difficulty for treasury zone entrances.
- Galaxy: Reduced template size from 128×128 to 112×112, added extra cities and Town Gates objects, and adjusted terrain elevation.
- Outcast Tournament: Adjusted Pandora’s Box distribution and Global Map spell unlock progression.
- Sprint: Adjusted final battle timings and Global Map spell unlock progression.
- Jebus Tournament: Pandora’s Boxes containing army units are now fully blocked from generating in the central area.
General Changes
- In-game notifications have been updated with a new screen layout and top-of-screen display, with the option to hide the block.
- Preparatory work has begun on reworking AI heroes on the Global Map, with numerous minor adjustments building the foundation for future improvements.
- Olden Era is available now on Steam Early Access.
