Developer Blizzard Entertainment took to the official site with some unexpected but exciting news: MOBA Heroes of the Storm turned 10! While the game’s glory days might be behind us, that doesn’t mean that there will be no celebration or further battles in the Nexus.
The team revealed that all Heroes are free to play until the next patch, landing on June 15. Plus, everyone who logs in during this time will receive two brand-new portraits to showcase their time battling across the Nexus.
“Ten years ago, the Nexus opened a realm between realms…where anything is possible. Over the years, you have braved this tumultuous universe, commanding some of the most legendary Heroes from across Azeroth, Sanctuary, the Koprulu sector, and future Earth”
But that is not all! The devs also announced that there will be a never-before-seen skin added to the HotS in-game shop. In honor of the game’s 10th anniversary as well as 30 years of Warcraft, what better hero to glorify than the one and only Thrall? The game also received a brand-new patch.
“Gear Head Thrall is now available through the in-game shop for 1500 Gems. And keep your eyes peeled—the Classic Games team is combing through the archives, searching for unreleased skins that would need some finishing touches for release, possibly bringing us more in the future.”
Heroes of the Storm – June 2 Live Patch Includes:
- All Heroes will be free starting from now until June 15th.
- NEW: All players will receive two new portraits to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Heroes.
- Players who are unable to purchase gems in-game can now purchase gems in the Battle.net shop.
- Gem quantities have been standardized in all regions and prices have been adjusted to affect this change. Previous bonus value has been incorporated in the new price.
- Updated Homescreen and Startup Music. CAUTION: May cause nostalgia.
- Updated Startup Loading Screen.

- Bug fixes for Brightwing, E.T.C., Gazlowe, Hanzo, Murky, Orphea and Tychus
