Developer Unfrozen is back with a new devlog for the upcoming turn-based strategy Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era. It is dedicated to one of the defining aspects of the game: Magic, spells, schools, and more. Olden Era has more spells than any other Heroes game out there, including battle and control-themed abilities.
“Today we would like to dive into more specific details that will define Olden Era. With the help of feedback from the community, we have been working hard to bring you the best version of mechanics around Magic. Let’s dive into the new magic system that will feature a lot of Quality of Life changes, but also improvements and new additions to one of the most impactful aspects of combat!”
Olden Era features the following magic schools:
- Daylight Magic – focuses on buffing allies and punishing enemies
- Nightshade Magic – focuses on weakening enemies and turning them against one another
- Primal Magic – uses the elemental powers of the world, primarily focused on direct damage spells
- Arcane Magic – specializes in utility and unconventional spells

About Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era:
Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era promises a return to the origins of the legendary saga, inviting both veterans and new players alike to explore Jadame, a mysterious continent in turmoil. The game will offer three single-player modes: Campaign, Randomly Generated Map and Skirmish. There are also three multiplayer modes to enjoy: Classic Mode, One-Hero Mode & Arena.
There will be six factions in Early Access in Summer 2025: Temple (Classic Knights), Necropolis (Undead and Vampires), Sylvan (Nature and Fey Folk), Dungeon (Dark Elves and Underground Creatures), Hive (Demonic Insectoids), and a sixth mysterious faction that will be revealed later. The devs plan to expand the list in the future updates and DLC.
