Developer HoYoverse shared the latest animated short for Honkai: Star Rail. Titled ‘The Long Night of Serenity’, it shows the heartbreaking backstory of Castorice and her past as Aidonia’s Holy Maiden before she joined the Flame-Chase journey.
Castorice joins the roster of the game in Version 3.2: Through the Petals in the Land of Repose that coincides with the game’s second anniversary. It continues the main story of Amphoreus and focuses on Castorice’s journey to find the Titan of Death, Thanatos, and reunite with her long-lost other half.
Born under the Touch of Death as a Chrysos Heir seeking the lost Coreflame of Death, she wields the Netherwing, a spectral entity born from eons of memories and divine authority. This dragon manifests after Castorice unleashes her Ultimate, burning its own HP to scorch all enemies with dragonflame. While active, the Netherwing syncs up with Castorice to delivery devastating joint attacks.
When allies lose HP, it is converted into HP for Netherwing, further amplifying this unit and Castorice’s damage. Furthermore, when in dire straits, it shieds the party by taunting foes, only to erupt into a sacrificial blaze upon leaving the field, dealing additional damage and healing allies.
Castorice also features a new Global Passive: when any ally suffers a killing blow in combat, they do not fall immediately, but are instead temporarily suspended in a near-death state. During this window, fulfilling specific conditions allows the character to recover and rejoin the battle. Remarkably, it also works even when Castorice is not in the team.
