Honkai: Star Rail – Version 3.4 Trailer & Overview

The developers of Honkai: Star Rail held the latest special program for the upcoming Version 3.4: For the Sun is Set to Die. Over the course of the livestream, the hosts went over the new chapter of the main story, new characters, events, Fate: Unlimited Blade Works collab, and much more. Let’s check it all out!

“Let me tell a tale of a swarm of nymphs that chase the scorching dawn. The Paean of Era Nova… For they rose from the gate and reached the throne, for they walked through the petals in the land of repose, yet fell finally at dawn’s rise…”

The events of the upcoming update will continue the main story of Amphoreus and start answering some burning questions. The Chrysos Heirs have fallen, but Phainon (5-star Physical Destruction) is still there, shouldering the burden of being the world’s Deliverer.

However, from the last story beat, we’ve learned that Amhoreus is actually a Rupert’s Scepter, one that was left long enough on its own to run through numerous calculations. What does it mean for the Trailblazer and Dan Heng, and how would it affect the Chrysos Heirs and impending Era Nova? Stay tuned to find out as Phainon and the Trailblazer stand together at the crossroads of destiny, ready to take a decisive step! The new update will bring some clarity about Amphoreus.

Meanwhile, Penacony is being the land of festivities once again by throwing the Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail War event. In addition to running into some familiar faces such as Boothill, Robin and Aventurine, players will also encounter two strangers: Archer (5-star Quantum Hunt) and Saber (5-star Wind Destruction). Lancer will make his appearance as well, but will not join the roster as a playable character.

Leaving the narrative journey for the update itself, let’s see what it offers in terms of gameplay, starting with banners.

Honkai: Star Rail – Future Banners Feature:

Version 3.4 Phase I:

• 5-stars: Phainon (Physical Destruction), Sunday (Imaginary Harmony), Tribbie (Quantum Harmony), Sparkle (Quantum Harmony)
• 4-stars: Tingyun (Lightning Harmony), March 7th (Ice Preservation), Yukong (Imaginary Harmony)

During combat, Phainon accumulates “Coreflames” either when using his skill, or when being the target of an ally’s skill. Once he reaches a certain number, he can unleash his Ultimate to transform and create a “Territory”, battling enemies in his new powerful form.

His combat power greatly increases, but allies temporarily leave the battlefield, with their bonus effects remaining active. Upon transforming, Phainon unlocks new abilities, channeling the powers of the Titans.

When he’s in the team, the team’s Technique Point cap increases. His Technique can instantly defeat normal enemies within a certain range without triggering combat.

Version 3.4 Phase II: 

• 5-stars: Firefly (Fire Destruction), Jingliu (Ice Destruction), Blade (Wind Destruction);
• 4-stars: Hanya (Physical Harmony), Luka (Physical Nihility), Lynx (Quantum Abundance)

Blade and Jingliu are among those to receive the Novaflare character enhancements.

Jingliu’s scaling had been switched over to HP. When a teammate’s HP gets reduced, Jingliu’s Critical Damage increases, and she gains “Syzygy”.  After entering the Spectral Transmigration state, max Syzygy stack limit increases and additionaly gains 1 stack of Syzygy.

Likewise, Blade’s scaling had been turned over to full HP.  The talent-triggered Follow-Up attack additionally generaties Energy. After using Skill, he significantly increases aggro chance.

Collaboration Warp (available July 11 and will last for a long time):

• Saber (5-star Wind Destruction)
• Archer (5-star Quantum Hunt)

Note that all players will be able to claim a copy of Archer for free. Additionally, spending 200 event tickets during Version 3.4 will award the collaboration-exclusive 5-star LC “The Hell Where Ideals Burn” (Hunt).

Saber’s Ultimate, Excalibur, deals massive Wind damage to all enemies and converts her Basic Attack into an Enhanced Basic Attack that also targets all enemies. During combat, Saber can accumulate Core Resonance through her Technique, Basic Attacks, or when the allies use their Ultimates. Once she accumulates enough, she will immediately get an extra action. Using her Skill at this moment will consume all accumulated Resonance, increase the Skill’s damage, and instantly refill the Energy for her Ultimate.

At the same time, Archer is skilled at dealing sustained single-target damage through repeated Skill use. When his Skill is activated and he enters the Circuit Connection state, casting the Skill will not end his turn. He can continue to use it until all Skill Points are depleted. With each additional cast, the damage increases accordingly. Upon using his Ultimate, Archer will recite the classic chant to activate Unlimited Blade Works, unleashing a powerful strike against a single enemy and gaining Special Charge that allows him to trigger a Follow-Up Attack and restore a Skill Point.

The Next Version 3.5 

• Hysilens (Physical Nihility)
• Cerydra (Wind Harmony)
• Kafka (Lightning Nihility)
• Silver Wolf (Quantum Nihility)

Note that while it was officially announced that Kafka and Silver Wolf will have their reruns in 3.5, and the developers have already revealed the two new characters for the Version, the full content of the banners is still subject to change. There might be more characters, so stay tuned!

Kafka and Silver Wolf also received their enhancements, just like Jingliu and Blade.

Silver Wolf’s Ultimate now hits all enemies instead of one. Additionally, her Skill prioritizes adding Weakness corresponding to the ally character in the first position for the lineup. She regenerates Energy at the start of battle and turn.

Kafka’s Skill can cause DoTs on all attack targets to immediately produce an instance of damage. Follow-up attacks’ trigger count increases and FUA’s can now explode DoTs on the targets. Original Trace effect adjusted to: when EHR of ally targets is greater than or equal to 75%, increases target’s attack by 100%.
