The developers from Harebrained Studios presented a brand-new trailer for the upcoming horror RPG Graft. The video demonstrated gameplay elements and gave a glimpse at the narrative events, hidden behind the gloomy visuals. Previously, the developers worked on the Shadowrun trilogy, and the new project takes the best of this experience. However, a release date for Graft has not yet been announced, following its initial reveal in 2024.
Graft is a sci-fi isometric horror RPG, which tells a story of survival and identity. At the core of the story lies the paradox of Theseus’s ship, which has existed since ancient times. How many parts can be replaced until the old ship won’t be itself anymore? The same applies to the main hero of the Graft, yet unlike the ship, not only is his body affected. Taking parts of the fallen enemies, the main character gains new abilities, yet each implant carries the weight of its previous owner, including personality and instincts.
Will the hero stay the same person till the end, or become a completely new individual? That question has no right answer.
Key Game Features:
- A Dying Biomechanical World: Decaying biomechanical station once inhabited by enhanced citizens. Now it is but a dark wreck haunted by experiments and abominations.
- Transformative Survival: Ripped parts of the enemies can be used to upgrade and adjust the character’s body, building a unique arsenal of abilities.
- Survival Horror Combat: A classic survival horror framework with resource management.
- A Dark RPG Narrative: Any alliance is fragile, and betrayal is mandatory. Players’ choices shape relationships and define fates.
- Metamorphosis of Identity: Each part carries echoes of its former owner—memories, cravings, and impulses. Players must navigate these psychological fragments, defining who or what they become by the journey’s end.
Graft will come to PC (Steam, EGS), yet we still have to wait for the release date announcement.
