The Hyper Mega Tech Super Pocket lineup is continuing its tour through retro gaming history, and this time it’s Activision’s turn. The company has opened pre-orders for the Activision Edition Super Pocket, a new retro handheld packed with 34 officially licensed games from one of the industry’s earliest third-party publishers. While previous Super Pocket models have focused on publishers like Capcom, Atari, SNK, Rare, and Technos, the Activision Edition leans heavily into the Atari 2600 era. That makes it an especially nostalgic release for players who remember gaming before mascots, polygons, and online matchmaking became the norm.
The handheld comes preloaded with a lineup that includes classics such as Pitfall!, Pitfall II: Lost Caverns, River Raid, River Raid II, H.E.R.O., and Kaboom!, along with dozens of other Activision favorites. In total, buyers get 34 games built directly into the system.
Like every Super Pocket released so far, the Activision Edition also features an Evercade cartridge slot. That means the handheld is more than a nostalgia box for a single publisher. Owners can expand their library with Evercade cartridges, giving access to more than 650 additional licensed retro games spanning arcade hits, home console classics, and indie releases.
Hardware specifications remain unchanged from previous models. The Super Pocket includes a 2.8-inch IPS display with a 320 x 240 resolution, USB-C charging, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a 3,000 mAh battery that delivers roughly three to four and a half hours of gameplay depending on the title.
The biggest appeal here isn’t raw horsepower, it’s convenience. Many of Activision’s early catalog games were designed around short, repeatable sessions, making them a natural fit for a portable device. Rather than emulating dozens of platforms through unofficial means, the Super Pocket continues to carve out a niche by offering curated, officially licensed collections in dedicated hardware.
The Activision Edition Super Pocket is available to pre-order now for $69.99 and is scheduled to launch on September 28, 2026.
