Chained Together is a co-op game that was released in 2024. However, I was only able to play this game early this year because a friend asked me to. Was it one of the best decisions I’ve made? Yes, not going to lie, I almost peed my pants laughing while playing this game. However, I wouldn’t say that it’s a perfect game. There is some room for improvement, but the entire game is already worthwhile, and the money used to buy the game is well worth it.
I couldn’t get this game out of my mind because we were able to finish it a few days ago, and now I’m longing for more. It’s not a typical game that you can play while TV streaming, for example, because it requires your full attention. And also, where’s the fun in that if you do that?
How Is Chained Together Played?
Chained Together is a multiplayer game where you and your friends are literally chained to one another while you try to escape Hell and reach Heaven. To reach Heaven, you will need to go through various obstacles while tethered together by an unbreakable chain. The game supports up to four players, but of course, that would be trickier than playing it with only one friend.
The objective is to climb your way out of a hellish abyss and reach the top of the map, all while avoiding falls that send you plummeting back to the start—or at least as far as the chain allows. There are checkpoints, so you don’t always have to start from the bottom.
There are also different modes of the game, so if you were able to complete the normal mode, you can always give these modes a try. For those who are new and simply want to get ahold of how the game works, there’s even a beginner mode with shorter chains and simpler obstacles—though I’d argue the chaos is where the real fun lies.

Yes, Chained Together Is Definitely Worth Playing.
The biggest draw of Chained Together is its ability to turn frustration into fun with your co-op buddies. Yes, you’ll fall—a lot. Yes, you’ll probably blame your teammates for every mistake (even when it’s your fault). But the shared experience of overcoming those setbacks is what makes it so addictive. There will be lots of trash-talking, but it’s what makes it. I also highly recommend you play this game using voice chat on Discord or on other platforms because it’ll be hard without any communication. You will need to strategize and time everything perfectly so as not to fall.
That said, it’s not without flaws. The controls can feel clunky at times, especially when the chain physics get wonky, and you end up tangled in midair. Some levels also feel unnecessarily punishing, which might turn off players who don’t have the patience for trial and error. Also, I had some problems setting it up at first and found out that many users have experienced the same thing. Although other factors may come into play and it’s not always the developers’ fault, it should be addressed to make everything easier.
The Bottom Line
Is Chained Together worth playing? Yes, 100%. It’s a great game, especially if you’ve got a group of friends who love chaos and patience-testing games. I’m still grinning thinking about it, and I’d jump back in with my chain gang any day. Now that I think about it, I’ll ask my friend to play with me again in a while. If you haven’t tried this game yet, I really recommend you try it. I’m sure you’ll have fun. And if you don’t have friends to play with, there’s a global multiplayer option so no worries!
