I’ve been a mobile gamer for more than a decade, but I usually play battle royale games like PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile and PUBG Mobile. During the past year, I grew tired of the same games I’ve been playing for years. I’ve been seeing the game Stardew Valley for quite some time over the past years, but I never considered buying it simply because I never knew what it is nor became interested in what it really is. And this year, I’ve decided to buy it for $4.99 on the app store, and it was probably one of the best game purchases I did. This isn’t a paid advertisement by the way, this is a completely honest review.
In this article, I’ll be sharing the reasons why I think Stardew Valley is worth paying for, although of course, it will still depend on your game preferences because it wouldn’t make sense for you to play this game if you don’t like this type of game to begin with. During the download and installation process, I recommend you to have a fast internet connection like Dish Network Internet because mine took a very long time due to a slow connection. So, without further ado, here are the reasons why I think the game is worth every penny:
1. It’s an offline game.
Unlike most games that will require you to be connected to the internet for you to be able to play them, Stardew Valley is different – although I’m not sure if it’s the same for the other versions of this game. You can play the game anytime, no matter where you are. It’s great news for someone who always go out and doesn’t want to use their precious mobile data just to play a game while traveling or killing time at work.
But keep in mind though that you will still need to be connected to the internet when downloading and updating the game. If your current internet connection isn’t sufficient for this task, it’s best to look into better internet plans like Boost Infinite Plans and others.
2. It’s super chill.
The mechanics of the game is to manage a farm that you inherited from your grandfather. Your day-to-day life would be farming, fishing, mining, foraging, and constructing stuff that you can use. What I really loved about this game is that the character is really hands on to what needs to be done – planting seeds, watering your crops, feeding the animals, and others. It literally gives you the feeling of living a life as a farmer.
3. It’s easy to understand.
Since you already get the idea of the game early on, you can easily understand what you need to do. The tutorials in the mobile version is also very detailed, so you won’t question yourself what to do. However, there’s only one thing I found a bit confusing at first, and that is the map. During the first few days of playing Stardew Valley, I often find myself wandering a lot because I couldn’t understand the map at all. But once you get the hang of it, it’ll make sense. But I still stand by what I said to my friend, the map could use a lot of work.
4. The game won’t be affected if you don’t play for a long time.
This is something new to me because I’m used to having the idea that I need to play a certain game every single day so as to not miss anything or be left behind. Stardew Valley is different. Since you play day by day through the seasons, if you stop playing during the 2nd day of Summer, guess what? When you open the game, it’s still the 2nd day of summer! The game respects your time. So whether you take a day, a week, or even a month-long break, your farm will patiently await your return.
Just make sure that when you take long breaks, like months or years (but I bet you can’t take a break this long though. The game is addicting.), check for updates before playing. And as I’ve been mentioning, you’ll need a fast and stable internet connection. If you don’t have quality internet, it’s best to look for better plans. Reputable providers like Metro offers a lot of great deals that you’ll probably like.
5. It gives you a sense of accomplishment.
Just like in life, whenever you get something done, whether it’s harvesting your crops, getting eggs and milk from your chickens and cows, or simply catching a fish, you feel happy. It’s a rewarding experience that will keep you come back for more. Also, money doesn’t come easy. You have to work hard for it, and there will be days where you won’t earn money.
The Bottom Line
To answer the question, yes, Stardew Valley is surely worth paying for. It’s a beautiful game that allows you to live a life of a farmer, and it actually teaches you a lot about life. If you’re looking for a laidback game to play just whenever you like, this game is surely worth your money. So if you’ve been thinking if you should purchase this game, trust me when I tell you that you’ll definitely love it. Happy playing!
