The developers from Cyclos and publisher Infini Fun have announced the metroidvania project Karma Exorcist. For this occasion, the team released the announcement trailer, demonstrating the aesthetics and gameplay elements. For now, the release date remains unknown but everyone can try their luck out and request access to playtest on official Steam page.
Karma Exorcist is a side-scrolling metroidvania action-adventure game. Inspired by Chinese mythology, the game presents a reimagined underworld where good and evil karma function like an invisible magnetic field influencing the balance of the Three Realms. When evil karma spreads, disasters follow. Gods and buddhas established the underworld to maintain the cycle of existence.
Key Game Features
- Free Exploration, Multiple Paths: Players explore the kingdom of the dead including the River of Forgetfulness, deserts beyond the Ghost Gate, Naihe Bridge, the Hall of Kings, and the Five Ghost Emperor Mountains. Multiple paths lead to different endings. Hidden stories and areas await discovery.
- Dynamic Combat: Players wield a 360° Chain Hook alongside dashes, double jumps, rolls, and combat artifacts. Numerous monsters feature unique combat mechanics requiring observation and adaptation. Each boss encounter is distinct, offering intense duels with satisfying difficulty.
- Collectible Artifacts: Various artifacts are found during the journey, each with unique combat modules. Players can mix and match them freely. Multiple Soul Gems can be equipped to create personalized combat styles.
