La Quimera is a refreshing take on near future dystopias, coming to Steam on 25 April.
Reburn has announced its first original IP and a brand-new sci-fi tinged FPS, coming to PC screens soon. The upcoming shooter bends intense exosuit combat, dystopian vibes, and a futuristic conspiracy, all wrapped up in a struggle to survive a megalopolis. Set in a Latin megacity, this new title will plunge players into a mix of high-tech narratives and mystical world building, where players must pick their weapon, choose from a range of abilities, and watch the story play out as you try to work out what the hell is going on.
La Quimera seems to ditch the navel-gazing of shooters like COD, but still manages to stay in a recognizable reality. Set in a near future megacity called Nuevo Caracas, this new tale is written and created by Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, The Neon Demon) and E.J.A. Warren. It follows a down-on-their-luck PMC group caught up in a vast conflict between rival factions and shadowy corporations, where the paranormal seems to creep across the glass and steel of modern living. Echoing elements of the Metro series, the new trailer provides a glimpse at the combat, where 1-4 players can engage in co-op play or go solo against a variety of enemies.
If the trailer isn’t hands-on enough, there’s a closed beta for 24 hours starting April 12 at 7 a.m. PT/2 p.m. UTC. Fans can request closed beta access on La Quimera’s Steam page, though slots are limited. Participants will be able to access a part of a pivotal mid-game mission in solo or co-op play.
If you’d rather wait and see what this is like once the bugs are all out of the system, then La Quimera will come to PC, via Steam, on 25 April. Check out the official Steam Store page for more.
