The developers from Bungie celebrate the global launch of the extraction shooter Marathon. The servers are set to go live today, March 5, at 10 AM PT on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. In preparation, the team has released a FAQ list to address common issues before they arise. Most importantly – participants of the Server Slam will need to redownload the game to access the full release.
Marathon is PvPvE survival extraction FPS, coming from the creators of Halo and Destiny. The players jump into dark sci-fi world as Runners, who have to scavenge an abandoned colony for relics and resources. The game features tense exploration, mixed with fast-paced PVP combats. The developers promise responsive gameplay, strategic preparation and flexible builds.
Key Game Features
- Runners: Six playable shells (Destroyer, Recon, Thief) with customizable weapons, implants, and core upgrades for diverse builds.
- Flexible Play: Crews of 2-3, solo lobbies, or drop in as a lone scavenger with no gear. Proximity chat enables temporary alliances or betrayal.
- Factions: Six competing factions offer contracts and season-long unlocks: shell upgrades, loadouts, vault space, and wares.
- Combat: Fast-paced PvP. Rated mode coming Season 1.
- Story: The mystery of the UESC Marathon expedition lost a century ago.
