Digital Eclipse has released a new update for legendary 2D fighter Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. The expansion brings cross-platform play, online 2-on-2 Kombat, and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support to the game. Most notably players now can match against opponents on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC, regardless of their own platform.
Moreover, along with the update developers released a patch for most known bugs. The development team promises to continue looking for bug and improve game experience further. They encourage players to provide feedback to help bring the changes faster.
The Legacy Kollection brings together a vast library of titles from the franchise’s early years, featuring multiple klassic games from the 90s and early 2000s, including arcade, console, and handheld versions. It also features new enhancements, including online play for arcade and console games, a Rewind feature for more forgiving gameplay, and much more. All in all, it is the ultimate way to enjoy the early Mortal Kombat franchise.
Update Overview
- Krossplay (Cross-Platform Online Play) – In Online Arcade, all players can join a hosted room using a room code system. To enable Krossplay, go to ONLINE OPTIONS and turn the option on.
- 2-on-2 Kombat Online – Online 2-on-2 matches are now officially supported for Ultimate MK3 (Arcade), Ultimate MK3 (SNES), Mortal Kombat Trilogy (PS1), and Mortal Kombat 4 (Arcade). These modes were previously only available offline.
- Variable Refresh Rate – VRR is now available on supported hardware. When enabled via PC graphics settings, the monitor syncs to the original arcade games’ non-standard frame rates, providing more accurate presentation and potentially improved input latency. VRR is not an in-game option; it requires enabling through graphics hardware settings. The developers prepared a special guide for this option.
