Mudborne Hops Onto PC Today And It’s The Frog Simulator You Didn’t Know You Needed

Have we toad you about the brand-new frog management sim, Mudborne, out now.

The Future Games Show wrapped up last night and while big budget trailers and shiny new ray traced sims were always on the cards, I’m hyped for a casual nature management sim called Mudborne. Announced with a launch game trailer at the aforementioned video game presentation, this tale of everything green comes right out of developer ellraiser, one half of the team that built APICO, and spawns a whole new narrative about the struggle to survive.

Mudborne is a cute pixel art indie adventure all about discovering and breeding frogs. Players can take control of a frog that finds its pond abandoned and empty. Through a combination of in game mechanics, exploration, and ingenuity, leap out into the world to find and breed new frogs to recover what was lost from this environment. Be the best frog you can be, catch delicious bugs, HOP, and HOP some more. Explore the suburban landscape and the wilds of the woods to find other frogs. Get all scientific and mash together unique genetics to create new species. Don’t stop with frogs either. You’ll be able to cultivate mushroom and the like. Yes, you can even lick the mushroom.

Between all the frog catching, a mix of minigames, menu management systems, and puzzle solving in a range of dreamscapes challenge players to do more than get fruity with the tadpoles. Even better, some of the frogs get hats. I’m, admittedly, enthusiastic for anything even a little off the wall, but if you liked games like Let’s Build a Zoo then this unusual adventure is ready for you right now. You can find out more about Mudborne and grab it for less than a fancy burger over on Steam. If that isn’t enough incentive, a portion of the profits will be donated to amphibian, wetlands, and environmental charities to help keep our little green friends happy and health.
