The long road to the death of Amazon Games Studios‘ New World: Aeternum has begun. In late 2025, the team announced that no additional content would be added to the game after the Nighthaven seasonal event. As of yesterday, the game is no longer available for sale, though players who own the game can continue to play through January 31, 2027. The development team took to the game’s official site with a new post to provide transparency about the shutdown process.
We want to thank the players for their dedication and passion. We are grateful for the time spent crafting the world of Aeternum with you. Together, we built something special. While we are saddened to say goodbye, we’re honored that we were able to share so much with the community.

- Game servers will be taken offline permanently on January 31, 2027.
- After July 20, 2026, players will no longer be able to purchase Marks of Fortune or other in-game items.
- No refunds will be available for extra Marks of Fortune.
- The game is no longer available for purchase.
- Players who already own the game can still install it and play through January 31, 2027.
- Players who recently purchased the game might still be able to get a refund, but will need to check customer support for the platform where purchased.
- No new content or further server merges will occur between now and shutdown. However, bugs and performance monitoring will still take place.
- World bosses and bonus weeks will continue through January 31, 2027.
