Developer Singularity 6 continues to expand the cozy, community-driven MMO Palia in more ways than one. The game is in for a massive new expansion, the Royal Highlands, arriving on May 12th.
While The Elderwood focused on vertical exploration and deep, purple hues, the Royal Highlands expansion instead features a large, sprawling area featuring Ancient Human ruins, sun-kissed golden fields, beaches, dramatic reds and more to feast your eyes on.
This new adventure zone is the largest to be added to Palia, and it is filled with new stuff to keep you engaged for hours: new materials, new insects and fish, new Sernuks that will test how good you are with your bow, new decor to uncover, and much more.
On your journey, you will come across the Amber Echo, a new mysterious material that covers and encapsulates trees, rocks, and even living creatures in the Royal Highlands. Not much is known about this phenomenon, but whatever is trapped inside gets frozen in time for years and years. This is how you meet your new trusty steed.
The map was designed with the idea of mounted exploration in mind. It has vast open areas that you are free to gallop through, broken columns that can serve as impromptu bridges and platforms to take off from, spheres that will further speed you up, and more.
At launch, you can expect three horse breeds: the classic Dawnspur, the magical Phoenixfire Dawnspur and the elegant Akwinduu Thoroughbred. Of course, horses will also be fully integrated into the Ranching skill – so breed away, trying to get the horse with the perfect traits like sparkles, unusual coat, and much more.
The developers will be celebrating introducing mounts by holding The Long Ride Event and tracking the entire distance traveled by the community on horseback. As certain milestones are reached, rewards will be unlocked for everyone, so swing into that saddle!
Outside of horsing around, players can also dig right into the new Ancient Humans-inspired Ancient Homeline decor. Of course, it also comes with its own sets, such as the new luxurious Aristocrat’s Set that you can use to create a rich mansion to enjoy. In order for you to store all that splendor, the devs are expanding the system with the Jadium Storage.
That said, there are still a few weeks until the release of the expansion. In the meantime, the developers and the community are coming together to celebrate a huge milestone: welcoming 10 million Palians!
