PlayStation 5 Improvements Outlined by Sony

Sont has released some detailing the new PlayStation 5 Improvements in a special presentation. At a recent Sony event, PlayStation system architect Mark Cerny talked journalists through the information on the upcoming console war.

The PlayStation tech ran through a number of features of the PlayStation 5 design and the difference they will make to gamers at Sony’s Corporate Strategy Meeting. Sony’s newest console generation looks set to blow the gaming tech that supports the current generation out the water with massively improved rendering and load times. Massive broadband connectivity improvements, increases in computational power, and souped-up SSD hardware look set to create an experience the Sony described as “immersive”.

We already know that the PlayStation 5 improvements will include support for 8k rendering, ray tracing tech, and backward compatibility as shown below.

You can take a look at a clip of the presentation from Wall Street Times journalist Takashi Mochizuki, below, or catch up on the presentation assets here.

If you only have the load time of a Playstation 5 to spare then it is fair to say that this presentation was at pains to show how much faster the PlayStation 5 will be than the PS4 or PS4 Pro. Cerny took the time to describe how load times for Spiderman jumped from 15 seconds to less than 1 second on the new dev kits. With the recent Sony/Microsoft cloud computing agreement and 96.8 million PS4 systems sold, it’s a good thing all that power is going to be backward compatible too.
