Sony has added another piece of hardware to the PlayStation desktop setup, and this one solves a problem that probably did not need solving. The new 27-inch Gaming Monitor with DualSense Charging Hook is now available through PlayStation Direct for $349. Designed for use with both PS5 and PC, the monitor combines a QHD IPS display with a refresh rate of up to 240Hz, although PS5 consoles are limited to 120Hz. It also supports VRR for smoother gameplay.
The PlayStation Gaming Monitor’s obvious party trick is the built-in DualSense charging hook. Rather than leaving a controller sitting on the desk or adding another charging station to an already crowded setup, the hook provides a dedicated place to hang the controller while keeping it ready for the next gaming session.
The monitor itself may not push the cutting edge in display technology, but it does offer high-refresh-rate gaming. The 27-inch IPS panel runs at QHD resolution and supports HDR, including Auto HDR Tone Mapping. Sony also includes fast response times, while a monitor joystick provides access to the on-screen controls.
Connectivity includes two HDMI inputs and a DisplayPort input, allowing the monitor to serve as the hub for multiple gaming devices. There is also USB connectivity, built-in speakers, an audio output, and compatibility with Sony’s PlayStation Link adapter. The monitor can also be mounted using select VESA-compatible mounting systems.
The PlayStation branding makes the intended audience pretty obvious. Sony already offers the considerably more expensive 27-inch INZONE M10S OLED, which pushes QHD resolution to 480Hz and is aimed squarely at competitive PC gaming. At $349, this new monitor is a more accessible option for players who want a PlayStation-focused desktop setup without jumping into OLED pricing.
