Siscia Games has announced that its pre-alpha playtest for Pompeii: The Legacy has begun. Interested players can head to the game’s Steam page to request access to the city builder, where they are charged with reconstructing the devastated city in ruins after Vesuvius’s horrific eruption.
Developers have released a new trailer that offers a peek at early gameplay footage and what players will be required to do in order to be successful.

Every structure, road, and water supply plays a crucial role in keeping the city alive and prosperous.
- Inspired by Historical Events: The gameplay is deeply rooted in historical events, offering a campaign that spans over 200 years. You will navigate the complex social hierarchy of the Roman Empire, interacting with emperors like Trajan, Hadrian, and Marcus Aurelius. Complete their tasks to earn rewards and benefits for yourself, your family and your city.
- Trade Routes: Leverage the trade routes of the Roman Empire to exchange goods and wealth. Establish trade agreements and monitor the market to ensure your city’s prosperity. Always be mindful of the competition, as the market can be volatile.
- Research and Development: The game incorporates active and passive bonuses through Family Bonuses, Research and Development, and Imperial Privileges. There are two main research branches: Technology and Philosophy. The Technology branch unlocks building upgrades and passive bonuses that enhance specific structures or transport. The Philosophy branch offers research that improves city management, governance, and addresses social issues like religion and education, providing new strategies for you.
- Events: Experience the unpredictability of life in the Roman Empire through a variety of events.
