Arc System Works and UnitePlus have announced tactical JRPG Qliphah in Providence’s Shadow. The project is a first attempt of the Guilty Gear developers in a new genre, setting new challenges for the team. Unlike 2D action fighter, new game features more tactical approach to the battles, offering a time-line based fighting system. The game prepares to launch on PC (Steam), PS5 and Nintendo Switch on 23 September 2026.
Qliphah in Providence’s Shadow takes players to the alternative future, where Tokyo has collapsed. Grotesque entities known as Aberrations roam the ruined streets, while reality is eroding and falling apart. In this chaos a delivery boy gets assaulted and becomes a “Half-turned”—a fusion of man and monster. An investigator from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s Public Safety Mutation Response Division saves him, and there start their adventure.
Players control Rena and Souma as they track “Tiny True,” a demonic narcotic, uncover the truth behind cursed body-carved glyphs “Stigmas”, and expose a mysterious cult.
Key Game Features
- Combat System: Combat featuring a timeline-driven gauge that displays incoming enemy attacks.
- Timeline Mechanics: Players have to predict, react, and intercept. They can slow down time or pause to analyze tactics, track cooldowns, and execute strategies.
