Reikon Games has announced the sequel to the cyberpunk action RUINER. Released back in 2017, the top-down shooter won players over and received many positive reviews. After almost a decade, the second game aims to repeat the predecessor success, while staying faithful to the roots. However, the sequel changes the original formula, switching to hack and slash genre and moving towards isometric ARPG.
RUINER 2 takes place in the same world as the first game. Death there must be earned through tough battles and endless struggle. The players take control of the Shell units with different skills and abilities. The players can switch between Shells in the middle of the combat, forming combos and activating synergy effect. Fast decisions and Shell’s rooster can define the outcome of each fast-paced battle. The developers promise the co-op option along with the single player.
Key Game Features
- Hacker Role: Players are hackers who can hijack enemies (Shells) and add defeated bosses to their collection.
- Roster System: Players select three for solo play or two for co-op and can swap between them during combat.
- Synergy Mechanics: Each Shell has a designated role. Combining them can trigger chain damage effects.
- Resource Management: Shells operate on Power, CPU, and Memory. Equipment draws from these limited pools, requiring trade-offs.
- Crafting System: Upgrades involve risk. Pushing the Complexity Factor increases potential rewards but may result in unpredictable item changes.
- Co-op Mode: Teams up to three players, combining six Shells across the team. Coordinated play enables access to higher-difficulty content.
- Monetization: Microtransactions do not affect gameplay. All progression and advantages are earned in-game.
