Few weeks after the game reveal, Broken Mirror Games and Anshar Studios have presented a game features overview trailer for the horror SAW: Genesis. The video focuses on the main gameplay process, cinematic scenes and the narrative idea. The game itself promises to be an asymmetrical horror, where players choose one of the opposing sides. The developers didn’t name the release window, but the game likely will launch in Early Access pretty soon.
Set in the aftermath of World War I, SAW: Genesis is an asymmetrical multiplayer game featuring 3v1 matches on procedurally generated maps. Players choose to play as the Judge or as one of three Accused.
Judge Role
The Judge is an early architect of Jigsaw’s philosophy, manipulating trials from behind the scenes. The Judge is physically vulnerable and cannot overpower the Accused through sheer force. Tools include:
- Exclusive access to hidden corridors and a noise-detection map
- Hallucinogenic gas and paralyzing toxins
- An Accomplice that drags Accused into Rehabilitation Traps
The goal is to rehabilitate the Accused by forcing them to choose between life and limb. “Live or die. They make their choice.”
Accused Role
Three Accused are trapped in an environment filled with traps. They must collaborate to complete challenges, scavenge items, and collect keys before time runs out. Procedurally generated maps create shifting routes and breakable plans.
As time runs out, will decreases, progress becomes more difficult, and Accused become vulnerable to Rehabilitation Traps. Consequences include:
- Sacrificing a body part to escape (arm damage affects puzzles/combat; leg damage slows movement)
- Relying on teammates for rescue
- These choices have permanent consequences for the match.
