Shadow of the Road Shared Alpha Survey Results

Developer Another Angle Games shared the alpha survey results for turn-based CRPG Shadow of the Road. The game has concluded its open alpha stage, and the developers have gathered the invaluable feedback in the process.

“It’s exhilarating to see how players from all over the globe have taken to our game, and we’re thrilled to discuss some of the key takeaways from the results of our latest community survey.”

Firstly, the developers shared some insights about their audience. The majority of the players are about 25 to 44 years old and come from North America and Europe. Many such players have reported previous experiences with cRPG, strategy and action-adventure games. The player base also seems to have a preference for historical themes, specifically referring to such games as Ghost of Tsushima (49.3%), Nioh/Nioh2 (35.7%), and Sekiro (42%).

Now, let’s go over players’ impressions of the game itself:

  • The majority of the players have described the encounter difficulty as tough, yet rewarding, earning a 4.11 out of 5 satisfaction rating for the combat system.
  • The visual spectacle of the game’s combat was clear enough for 85% of Alpha participants. The initiative Timeline was quickly and easily understood by more than 81% of players. The rest of the combat UI was found intuitive and easy to navigate by 87.3%.
  • However, only 65% of players used consumables, despite there being plenty of supplies.
  • Four out of every five players found the dialogue UI both convenient and pleasing.
  • More than 60% of players became interested in learning the Japanese names and terminology highlighted in the dialogues and texts, with explanations of their meanings provided via tooltips.
  • And more! Check out the blog post to find all the insights in once place.
