Soulframe’s Preludes 15: Gods & Ghosts Overhauls Loot, Builds, And Social Play

Digital Extremes has rolled out a hefty new closed Alpha update for Soulframe, with Preludes 15: Gods & Ghosts now live as a free download for PC players who have access to the ongoing test. The latest patch hits four big pillars: a full loot and crafting overhaul, new social tools, fresh enemies and encounters, and a deeper Totem and Virtue system aimed at more intentional builds.

On the loot side, Preludes 15 reworks how Envoys chase gear. Enemies now drop fully crafted weapons that come with Tempers, randomized modifiers that can change everything from attack speed and Smite chances to elemental effects. Instead of collecting blueprints and parts for every upgrade, players can equip drops immediately or break them down on the spot for materials. A new Ingot system tied to the blacksmith Tuvalkane lets Envoys refine a weapon’s Craftwork, add more Tempers, and eventually reroll specific aspects in later updates. The goal is to make each weapon feel more distinct and to push gear toward “investment in what you love” rather than a slow blueprint grind.

Preludes 15 also makes Soulframe’s Alpha a bit more social. A new trading system allows Envoys to swap gear around Enclaves or at World Trees, and an in‑game mailbox gives players a way to send items and messages across Alca. For a game that has been fairly solitary in its earliest builds, those additions mark a step toward the kind of community‑driven economy and cooperation Digital Extremes is known for.

On the combat side, a new Siege Encounter built around Turret Jotar joins the roster, alongside a reworked enemy patrol system that changes how mobs roam and engage across the world. Players can expect fresh encounters and new threats, including enemies like the Ode’n Caeulam and other variants designed to make exploration less predictable. Under the hood, the Totem system has been overhauled and tied more directly to the three Virtues: Courage, Spirit, and Grace. Totems now grant stat bonuses and buffs to Pull Smite and Rune abilities, and they’re meant to slot naturally into builds centered on the update’s new weapons: the heavy axe Veilk, the long blade Ilverac, and the heavy mace Vrusht‑IX.

Soulframe remains in a closed, free Alpha on PC for now. Players can sign up for the Soulframe Preludes access queue on the official site, with invites drawn weekly, or get instant access by opting in as a Founder, which also includes extra keys to share. For anyone watching the MMO’s early development, Preludes 15: Gods & Ghosts looks like another step toward the game’s eventual wider launch—less about adding a single marquee feature and more about reshaping systems so builds, loot, and social play have room to grow.
