On March 19th, developer Epictellers Entertainment kicked off the third closed beta public playtest for the upcoming turn-based cRPG Starfinder: Afterlight. The playtest featured about a 40-minutes long slice of early game with pre-generated protagonist, a couple of companions, and a number of quests to complete. After finishing the available content, the players were offered to participate in the survey to share their impressions.
Now, the team is back with their findings. Over 12,000 players from 60+ countries have jumped into Afterlight as a part of the playtest, and 2,400 have completed the survey and submitted feedback.
What players loved the most were dialogues and voice acting, with the narrative team and voice cast being over the moon from the praise. On the other hand, camera controls and animations were the common concerns.
“These have already seen major improvements in our current development build. We are also working on deeper combat (adding missing skills and improving AI), a UI rework (adding tooltips like hit chance), and a smoother onboarding experience.”
Some interesting statistics include:
- Over 90% of respondents had played Baldur’s Gate III
- Nearly 80% had played Divinity: Original Sin
- And about 73% had played Pathfinder: Kingmaker or Wrath of the Righteous.
