Acid Wizard Studios has just released a free demo for their intriguing new schoolyard football sim, Soccer Kids.
Whether you call it football or soccer, the age-old activity of getting a ball and hitting the back of the net can be complicated for some of us. Likewise, for a teenage mathematical savant, and friends, they’re out to use their brains to beat the rest of the competition. A local street soccer tournament sets the stage for this bunch of geniuses to take a more methodical approach to scoring. Players will find a tight, grid free field of play where a team can freely roam the pitch. During the match, you’ll be able to slow the action and make decisions on how to move, pass, shoot, and intercept the opposition with plenty of on-screen information for your consideration.
This top-down title is something of a different turn for a studio that brought us Darkwood in 2017. The horror infused adversaries of that adventure are nothing like the AI powered opponents here. The worst they’ll likely do is foul your teammate. It is, however still decidedly unlike Football Manager and FIFA. Set in Poland during the 90s, this looks at the beautiful game through the eyes of a country transitioning from a socialist republic to a more free market society. It’s a reminder of how inclusive sport can be.
While we don’t have full release date yet or price, the Soccer Kids demo is available to play for free and you won’t even have to shell out for a temperamental soccer star to get involved. Check out more at the Steam Store page now.
