Taxi Chaos 2 Screeches Onto PS5 Today as Physical Editions Get Locked In for Spring

Taxi Chaos 2 is officially back on the road, bringing its brand of reckless, arcade-style mayhem to PlayStation 5 via digital download. Indie publisher Current Games confirmed the PS5 launch alongside another announcement that will matter to collectors and physical media fans: boxed versions of Taxi Chaos 2 for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch are on the way later this spring, with pre-orders now open through Curveball Games.

Developed by indie studio Focuspoint Studios, Taxi Chaos 2 is the follow-up to the original cult-favorite arcade racer and wastes no time doubling down on chaos. While the game has already been available digitally on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox platforms, the PS5 release opens the doors for a new audience to tear through the sun-drenched streets of San Valeda.

Players step into the driver’s seat as Vinny or Cleo, the last remaining human taxi drivers in a city increasingly dominated by aggressive A.I.-controlled TaxiBots. Every shift is a high-pressure race against the clock, with limited hours pushing players to choose between safer point-to-point fares or riskier jobs that involve fragile cargo, hazardous routes, or absurd modifiers. Some fares even alter how your cab handles mid-run, adding weight, instability, or unexpected extras like rockets bolted straight to the vehicle.

San Valeda itself is designed to keep drivers on their toes. Roadworks, heavy fog, restricted TaxiBot zones, and other environmental hazards can block familiar routes, forcing players to adapt on the fly. As runs progress, rival TaxiBots become increasingly hostile, ramming vehicles, cutting off paths, and doing everything possible to sabotage a clean delivery.

Vehicle choice plays a major role in how players approach the madness. Heavy cabs focus on durability and brute force, Sport vehicles prioritize speed and precision, while Drift cars reward momentum and aggressive cornering. Cosmetic customization and unlockable abilities further shape each run, offering utility skills for navigation and combat-focused options to push back against TaxiBot interference.

Taxi Chaos 2 supports both a Story Mode with escalating challenges and an Arcade Mode built for quick sessions, high scores, and leaderboard competition. It is a clear love letter to classic arcade racers, filtered through modern design sensibilities.

Curveball Games CCO Andrew Nauton described the project as one the team eagerly raced to bring to physical formats, particularly for fans who still value owning their games. With digital chaos already underway on PS5 and physical editions scheduled to ship this spring, Taxi Chaos 2 is making sure there is no shortage of reckless fun, no matter how players choose to hail their ride.
