The Crew 2 Launch Trailer is Here and it’s… Underwhelming.

Ubisoft has dropped The Crew 2 Launch Trailer and it has honestly left me thinking… meh.  I’m not the biggest fan of racing games to begin with but the first game, The Crew, got and held my attention without a doubt when it came out in 2014.  The idea was awesome and the trailers were exciting. Fast forward to today’s trailer and I’m really just confused. It feels like Ubisoft wasn’t even trying.  The graphics they present in the trailer are a downgrade from the original and they mix it with what appear to be live actors, giving this not-so-endearing early CGI feeling that just doesn’t work. Yes, I know this isn’t a gameplay trailer as someone will likely shout, but shouldn’t we be seeing the opposite in that regard? Launch trailers are notorious for showing up graphics and mechanics that simply aren’t present in action gameplay so I’m not sure what Ubisoft was going for here – maybe they want everyone underwhelmed so when it releases everyone is pleasantly surprised?

Without further adieu, I give you the trailer.

And let’s compare that to the launch trailer for the first game, The Crew.

I’m sorry Ubisoft, but, what were you thinking with this launch trailer?  What are your thoughts on The Crew 2 launch trailer?  Let us know in the comments!
