The developers of The Crew Unlimited announced a release date of their fan made project. Development of the server emulator (version 1.0) and the accompanying TCU Launcher is complete, with all components having undergone a final review. The project is now in its final phase, dedicated to comprehensive testing and refinement prior to release.
“A lot of our time and effort has been put into the project, and it’s finally coming to fruition. We are as excited as you are. Thank you all for your patience, understanding and support.” – whammy4
TCU project was born after Ubisoft’s decision to discontinue the original The Crew in 2024. The termination of servers and suspension of sales made the online-dependent game completely inaccessible. As a result, the fan-led project The Crew Unlimited promised to create a server emulator, enabling offline play and user-hosted servers.
The shutdown raised major concerns about preserving always-online games and inspired the Stop Killing Games petition. The goal is to pressure companies to let people keep playing games they’ve bought, even after the official servers close.
