Developer Owlcat Games participated in an interview during New Game+ Showcase regarding the upcoming action RPG The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. Game design director Leonid Rastorguev commented on the game’s class system, combat expression and power fantasy.
Players will be able to select a starting preset that gently guides them towards the certain direction regarding the power fantasy. At some point, players will need to commit to their choices, be it engineer, sniper, hacker, or something else. The developers describe it as an important part of the choice system – if you were able to switch everything on the fly, that would have ultimately made the choices less important.
Additionally, during the character creation, players will need to choose between three major factions as a part of the character’s origin: Belter, Earther, or Martian. Facial customization, appearance, etc. follow so you can make the protagonist feel like your own, unique character.
Game design producer Yuliya Chernenko then takes over to share some details regarding the protagonist’s sibling. They are their own person with their own personality and the appearance that somewhat differs from the protagonist’s own.
Every companion belongs somewhere in the universe, with their own backgrounds, stories, goals and characters. You will witness their affections, struggles, growth, and more. Your choices, whether to help or to ignore, will matter in the long term. Some of them also have romances, if you’re into that.
