Ah, The Oregon Trail. Who doesn’t remember taking a family of adventurous pioneers on a cross-country journey, most of who didn’t make it in the end? Dysentery, snake bites, starvation, and broken axels all got in the way of successfully bringing the pioneers to their new home. And now all this game glory is coming to the big/small screen thanks to a new action-comedy film being produced exclusively for Apple.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film has been green-lighted by HarperCollins Productions and will be based on the original 1971 classic game. Caroline Fraser is a producer on the project alongside Kevin K. Vafi. The film will be directed and produced by Will Speck and Josh Gordon, with a screenplay penned by The Lucas Brothers. The OST for the project will be created by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, both well-known for their work on La La Land and Only Murders in the Building.
At this point, there is no release information available, but we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
