The MIX x Kinda Funny Spring Game Showcase unveiled a new Yooka-Replaylee teaser as part of today’s consumer showcase, but more importantly we can start the hype. PM Studios and Playtonic took the opportunity to present a pair of mischievous heroes, and a release window. Yooka-Replaylee releases later this year on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo platforms.
Of course, that news means that fans of classic platformers, like Banjo-Kazooie, Spyro, and a long line of Nintendo characters, can look forward to getting their mitts on Yooka and Laylee with plenty of upgrades. Fulle remastered form the ground up, this adventure will take the retro-inspired charm and downright fiendish platforming challenges that plenty of us oldies remember and overhaul it to make it all new.
Originally launched onto screens back in 2017, this rebuild of Laylee introduces an art and animations overhaul and enhanced performance and resolution. Across a variety of challenges, take on reinvigorated obstacles, grab a new currency, spend it unwisely, and listen out for the original score returning as a beautifully arranged orchestral score. The new trailer offers a sneak peek at Yooka-Replaylee’s world. Reconstructed and even better, it contains a multitude of bright biomes – five unique worlds each with their own challenges and collectibles 4K optimizations and a brand-new character to boot. With even more to come, it’s probably time to take a look at today’s trailer reveal and begin getting excited, then head over to the official Steam Store page to see more before the Yooka-Replaylee launch arrives.
