Tides of Tomorrow Sets April 22 Release Date, Steam Demo Available Now

DigixArt (creators of the critically acclaimed Road 96) and publisher THQ Nordic have confirmed that Tides of Tomorrow will launch on April 22, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, giving players a fresh target for the ambitious narrative adventure after a slight delay from its previously planned February window. The postponement comes as developers respond to feedback from the game’s playable Steam demo and closed beta, with the extra time aimed at polishing the experience ahead of launch.

Before the official release, players can sample the game through a free demo on Steam. This playable slice of Tides of Tomorrow introduces core mechanics and the title’s give-and-take storytelling by placing you in the role of a Tidewalker – a wanderer on the ocean-covered world of Elynd. The demo’s opening sequence lets you explore Marketland, a floating locale whose state and story are shaped by the choices of another player you choose to follow. What they did before you arrived affects dialogue, objectives, environmental conditions, and even the missions available on your playthrough.

Tides of Tomorrow blends first-person exploration with a unique asynchronous multiplayer narrative. Instead of typical co-op gameplay, your journey interlinks with others through a shared world state: following friends or streamers creates a bespoke story shaped by their decisions, while NPCs and world events respond dynamically to these influences. The game challenges you to navigate resource scarcity, faction tensions, and the ecological decay inflicted on Elynd after a devastating flood.

The demo has generated a broadly positive response, with many players praising its novel approach to player interconnectedness and storytelling. With the new release date, Tides of Tomorrow will arrive just in time for spring. For now, the free demo on Steam offers a taste of the adventure that awaits, letting prospective Tidewalkers explore narrative pathways and see how each choice ripples through Elynd’s world.
