To the surprise of RPG community, developer Grimlore Games and publisher THQ Nordic unexpectedly kicked off the Steam Early Access for the upcoming Titan Quest 2. In the sequel to the legendary original Titan Quest, the Goddess of Retribution, Nemesis, begins corrupting the Threads of Fate and punishing anyone who dares to oppose her. Now you have to pick up your weapon and change the fate itself.
According to the developers, it will be impossible to not only reach, but exceed the level of Titan Quest 1 without the community’s involvement. And what better way to collect the feedback and opinions than by making the game available in Early Access? Currently, the plan is to keep it that way for about a year.
At the moment, the game features the entire core experience and a total of about 15 hours of content. In the full release version, the game will receive extra polish and QoL features. Players can also look forward to the additional masteries new content and world segments, stories and quests. The team also plans to develop new supporting features to enhance the game’s longevity, with the example being the crafting system.
With over 5.6 thousand user reviews on Steam, the game received the rating of Very Positive. Players compliment the setting, the pace, the voice-acting and the graphics. There are frequent notes that the sequel stays true to the original Titan Quest vibe. Others note that the balance is currently out of whack, citing the poison damage. In particular, players point out the Poisonous Exploding Spiders, whose damage makes it incredibly unfun to face them in combat.
Other common negative point includes the bow-using characters not having any related classes or ability trees. So if you are someone who prefers ranged, you might want to wait for the devs to expand. Currently, the game features 4 core classes.
