Developer Watt Studio shared the first details and expected features of the upcoming ballet-themed slasher Tsarevna, the studio’s debut project set in a world of Slavic mythology.
Tsarevna is a game inspired by Alexander Pushkin’s “The Tale of Tsar Saltan.” Thus, players can expect to find the archetypes, Slavic motifs, and folkloric magic, transformed into lore, mechanics, and storyline. Ballet here is not a metaphor, but part of the combat system: the heroine’s movements were choreographed together with the prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater.
The game will be arriving in Q4 2026 on PC and consoles. Tsarvena is a single-player project that will take roughly 9–12 hours to beat and feature a visceral action slasher where balletic elegance meets savage combat.
“We have combined the classical art of ballet with the poetry of Alexander Pushkin and modern video game technology. At the heart of the story is the magical island of Buyan, guarded by Tsarevna-Swan — a symbol of beauty, wisdom, and magic. The main character’s movements are recorded using motion capture technology, with ballet performed by Bolshoi Theatre prima ballerina Alena Kovaleva. This allows the character to move with true ballet grace without losing the dynamics of combat gameplay.
