Warframe is turning 13, and instead of quietly blowing out candles, Digital Extremes is launching onto new hardware and unleashing its 64th Warframe at the same time. During its latest Devstream, the studio confirmed that Warframe will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on March 25 alongside The Shadowgrapher update. The expansion hits all platforms the same day, but Switch 2 players are getting a version built to actually flex the new hardware.
On Switch 2, Warframe will run at 60 FPS and 1080p in both handheld and docked modes, with improved load times, textures, and shader quality. The new Joy-Con 2 Mouse Mode can be used for menu navigation and aiming, which could make lining up headshots feel a little less like thumbstick roulette. Players who log in between March 25 and April 15 will receive the exclusive Ambimanus Pack, including the Vericres Warfan, Akomeogi Warfan skin, Slicing Feathers Stance Mod, cosmetics, and boosters.
The real centerpiece of The Shadowgrapher, though, is Follie, Warframe number 64. The ink-themed frame leans fully into the update’s painterly horror vibe. Follie can slip into canvases to reposition, apply a new Inkblot debuff, summon a self-portrait doppelganger to soak damage, and literally lift enemies into the air with inky balloons. It is whimsical. It is unsettling. It is very Warframe.
Follie also headlines a new co-op mode called Follie’s Hunt, a 4v1 asymmetric experience inspired by multiplayer survival horror. Four Tenno must complete unfinished paintings around the Vesper Relay while avoiding a player-controlled Follie that grows more aggressive as objectives are completed. Each run features randomized modifiers, so the mode is built to be replayed rather than solved once and forgotten.
Customization continues to expand as well. The Shadowgrapher introduces Atragraphs, animated alternate-art cosmetics for Mods that resemble foil trading cards. A fresh wave of TennoGen cosmetics is on the way, alongside deluxe skins and emotes for Gauss and Grendel.
Clans are getting meaningful upgrades, including Clan-only matchmaking, weekly Clan missions, merging options, resource bonuses for grouping with Clanmates, and new social UI tools. Operation: Atramentum runs from April 2 to April 23, offering both new and returning rewards for coordinated squads.
Thirteen years in, Warframe is still evolving, still experimenting, and now preparing to bullet jump onto new hardware. March 25 is shaping up to be another big moment for the Tenno.
