Digital Extremes has released Iceblade of Narin, the latest major free update for Warframe, and it is doing something increasingly familiar for the long-running space ninja game: looking backward before it sends players somewhere new. The update introduces Narin, the game’s 66th Warframe, alongside a new social zone atop Yuvan Peak, new enemies, weapons, cosmetics, and the arrival of Citrine Prime. It also revisits the Zariman with new threats and gives players another reason to return to some locations that have been part of Warframe for years.
Narin is very much a Warframe built around the idea of weaponized winter. The “dancer of bloodstained ice” can summon spectral swords to freeze enemies, sprout crane wings to take flight before crashing down in a snowy radial explosion, and siphon frost from enemies to restore shields. Her kit also lets her skate across the battlefield in a sword dance blizzard, launching hailstones at marked enemies for heavy damage. Naturally, Narin gets some appropriately chilly hardware to go with the theme. Her signature weapons include the Nunchasa bow and Aksondol dual ice pistols, while her broader arsenal expands with the weapons and equipment included in the update.
Players can also climb Yuvan Peak to discover a new social zone, reconnect with Cephalon Melica, and investigate the secrets hidden in the ice. The Zariman gets some attention as well, with new Entropic Eximus enemies and a chance for Melica’s Labroom to appear during Zariman missions.
Then there’s Citrine Prime. The crystal-themed Warframe joins the Prime roster with increased energy and armor, along with an additional Naramon Dash polarity slot. Her Prime Access weapons include the Steflos Prime shotgun and Corufell Prime scythe, which can either be obtained through Prime Access or earned through gameplay.
The update also brings a full Banshee ability rework, with Digital Extremes aiming to make her damage output more accessible and consistent. Players who log in by October 7 can claim a free Banshee and Forma resource. Android players also have another reason to check in, as Warframe is now officially available through the Samsung Galaxy Store, with a special login reward available through October 21.
Finally, Iceblade of Narin adds several cosmetic options, including the Banshee Threnodia Deluxe Skin, Qorvex Basilica Deluxe Skin and new TennoGen creations.
With Warframe preparing to make its way toward the Tau system later this year, Iceblade of Narin serves as something of a homecoming tour. Digital Extremes says the fall updates have become an opportunity to revisit older locations with new ideas, and this one certainly fits that description. For a game with this much history, there are plenty of places worth visiting again before the next great leap into the unknown.
