Warframe has spent years turning its free-to-play update model into a near-constant parade of new systems, cosmetics, weapons, and space-ninja chaos. Its latest update, Amir’s Shockwave, is taking a slightly more personal route by putting The Hex’s resident hacker in charge of the airwaves, while also giving players a permanent tabletop RPG-inspired story to dig into. Nightwave Mix: Amir’s Shockwave is now live across all platforms. The limited-time, Warframe: 1999-themed Nightwave series replaces Nora Night’s normal broadcast with Amir Beckett as host, complete with new voice work from Kevin Afghani.
Players can work through daily, weekly, elite weekly, and permanent weekly Acts to unlock 30 reward tiers. The headline rewards include the Kaneshell Atomicycle Regalia Operator and Drifter outfit, Globakk Syandana, Teisatz Oculus, Wirematrix Ephemera, Entropic Color Palette, Omni Forma, Umbra Forma, and several utility items. As with previous Nightwave series, the cosmetic rewards are time-limited, so Tenno who want the 1999 gear will need to start clearing challenges before Amir eventually gets kicked off the radio station.
The more lasting addition is Fables & Frontiers: Running Late, a six-day text adventure accessed through the POM-2 terminal. The new mini-narrative has Amir stepping into the role of Fablemaster for a fantasy tabletop campaign featuring The Hex crew. It is a fittingly nerdy development for a character whose entire personality could probably be summarized as “has too many tabs open.”
Access comes with some notable requirements. Players must complete The Hex Quest and its finale, reach Rank 5 with The Hex Syndicate, and have a Close Rank 5 KIM Chemistry relationship with Amir. Once unlocked, the adventure sends players through a six-day story with decisions, dice rolls, and rewards, including an Atomicycle Key Sugatra and Fables & Frontiers Glyphs.
Unlike the Nightwave rewards track, Running Late is a permanent addition. Players who are not yet caught up with Warframe: 1999’s progression will not miss it, though they will have some relationship-building to do before Amir invites them to game night.
The update also adds On-lyne’s new song, Running Late, alongside two additional Fables & Frontiers tracks now available on major streaming platforms. On the cosmetics side, Baruuk receives the Shaoshi Collection, while six new TennoGen items include skins for Kullervo and Harrow, an Oraxia helmet, an Operator mask, and two Signas.
