WEBTOON Entertainment and Xbox are charting new waters together with Sea of Thieves: The Last Bite, an original webcomic miniseries that expands Rare’s pirate universe beyond the game itself. The five-episode series is available now on WEBTOON’s English-language platform, offering fans a complete, free adventure designed to be read in one sitting or savored episode by episode.
Set in the colorful and chaotic world Sea of Thieves players already know, The Last Bite introduces a brand-new pirate crew facing a sinking ship, fractured loyalties, and one final mystery that could tear them apart. Rather than retelling in-game events, the series leans into original storytelling, giving WEBTOON and Xbox room to explore new characters and corners of the Sea of Thieves lore. The comic is written by Chris Allcock and illustrated by Rhoald Marcellius, capturing the franchise’s trademark mix of humor, heart, and high-seas mischief.
According to WEBTOON Chief Strategy Officer Yongsoo Kim, the collaboration reflects the platform’s growing focus on helping major franchises expand their worlds through webcomics. Sea of Thieves, with its emphasis on emergent storytelling and shared player experiences, fits naturally into that approach. Rare echoes that sentiment, noting that The Last Bite is meant to welcome longtime players while also serving as an easy entry point for newcomers who may be discovering the franchise for the first time through WEBTOON.
To celebrate the launch, WEBTOON and Xbox are also running a limited-time cross-platform promotion that blurs the line between reading and playing. During the campaign period, readers who finish all five episodes of The Last Bite on WEBTOON can claim a one-month free trial of Xbox Game Pass Premium. Xbox Game Pass subscribers, in turn, can unlock a one-month free trial of WEBTOON Premium, while WEBTOON Premium subscribers can claim a limited-time Sea of Thieves in-game emote. The promotion runs through February 13, 2026, with all claimed codes required to be redeemed within 30 days, and final redemption ending March 15, 2026.
