World of Warcraft 20th Anniversary Celebration Kicks Off October 22

Developer Blizzard Entertainment shared the details of the upcoming World of Warcraft 20th Anniversary celebration. Mark your calendar: the in-game event kicks off on October 22 together with the first content update for The War Within. The Champions of Azeroth, past and present, are invited to the Caverns of Time tucked away in the wastelands of Tanaris to participate!

The event lasts through January 6th, 2025, so there is plenty of time to indulge in the party spirit. While the event is active, you can earn a new currency, Bronze Celebration Tokes, to spend on new items for your collection, including returning items from previous anniversaries. Here are just a few items you will find on the Timewalking vendors starting with the 20th Anniversary:

  • Enchanted Spellweave Carpet (from Wrath of the Lich King)
  • Amani Hunting Bear (from the Burning Crusade)
  • Frayfeather Hippogryph (from Classic World of Warcraft)

You can go Timewalking through Classic World of Warcraft Dungeons, engage in fierce battle in the Blackrock Depths Raid Dungeon, and more! The celebration also gives players a chance to get Tier 2 armor appearances set, including a shiny new Judgement upgrade. The classes that didn’t exist then got new Tiers:

  • Death Knight: Pale Rider’s Eternal Armor
  • Demon Hunter: Netherwalker’s Eternal Armor
  • Druid: Stormrage Raiment
  • Evoker: Earth-Warder’s Eternal Armor
  • Hunter: Dragonstalker Armor
  • Mage: Netherwind Regalia
  • Monk: Eternal Battlegear of the August Acolyte
  • Paladin: Judgement Armor
  • Priest: Vestments of Transcendance
  • Rogue: Bloodfang Armor
  • Shaman: Then Ten Storms
  • Warlock: Nemesis Raiment
  • Warrior: Battlegear of Wrath

“Blizzard employees earn special service awards during their time at the company. We’ve taken inspiration from these awards to create a new mount that is fully armored in a similar style—the Coldflame Tempest mount. This blue-flamed flying mount takes after its fiery cousin, the Ashes of Al’ar, and will let you show off your own years of service to Azeroth.”

Players can also earn appearances based on the employee sword, shield, and crown to show off in-game, along with a version of the employee ring as a toy. For a limited time, you will also see some returning Anniversary items that can be also purchased with Bronze Celebration Tokens when you visit Storekeeper Reginald in the Celebration Pavilion and peruse his inventory.

  • Core Hound Chain: Teaches the Core Hound mount.
  • Lil’Nefarian: Teaches the Lil’ Nefarian pet.
  • Molten Corgi: Teaches the Molten Corgi pet.
  • Onyxian Whelpling: Teaches the Onyxian Whelpling pet.
  • Hatespark the Tiny: Teaches the Hatespark the Tiny pet.
  • Baby Blizzard Bear: Teaches the Baby Blizzard Bear pet.

But even that is not all, there are World Bosses to tackle, including the two new arrivals in the sands of Tanaris: the Sha of Anger and Archavon the Stonewatcher. Chromie also needs the help of heroes to put her codex in order. Players can queue up using the Group Finder for this 10-20 player scenario beginning at level 15.
