World of Warcraft: Dragonflight – Pre-Expansion Patch Phase 2 Begins

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight - Pre-Expansion Patch Phase 2 Begins

Developer Blizzard Entertainment kicked off a new phase in the pre-expansion patch for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. Unlike the first half of the event, this part adds a variety of new content including Dracthyr Evoker race/class combo, new zone The Forbidden Reach, new dungeon Uldaman: Legacy of Tir and the new in-game event.

To celebrate the occasion and bring players up to speed on the additions, the developers held a livestream dedicated to all the new things happening in Azeroth. During the program, the team showed off a new cinematic trailer dedicated to all things winged and scaled as well as an in-game video featuring the Dracthyr and their abilities.

In the launch cinematic we can see a friendly rivalry between the Alliance and Horde dragon riders as they take to the skies of Azeroth – to the great displeasure of a local Tuskarr fisherman.

The unlikely duo has to put aside their differences and work together to escape the clutches of Raszageth – the primal storm proto-dragon, one of the antagonists of the newly awakened Dragon Isles. The fearsome proto-dragon previously made her appearance in the animated short Dragonflight Legacies Chapter 2, where she faced off against the Dracthyr and their general, Neltharion.

If you want to learn more about the Dracthyr Evokers, the new unique race/class combo coming in Dragonflight, there is another video for you to feast your eyes on. If you have pre-purchased the expansion, you can try one for yourself right now before the expansion launches on the 28th!

“The Dracthyr have awoken from their slumber to a new threat within the Dragon Isles. The all new hero class, the Dracthyr Evoker is now live!”

Much like the previous Hero Class, Demon Hunters, the Dracthyr Evokers only have access to 2 specializations versus the usual 3 (or 4, if you are playing a druid). Evokers can choose between DPS spec Devastation and Healer spec Preservation. Evokers wear Mail armor.

In addition to the Dracthyr, other forces are stirring around the world and primal storms are erupting, prompted by the Primalists. You will have to fight them back across the familiar locations as they seek to unshackle their masters.

To sum it up, here are the contents of the Dragonflight pre-patch phase 2:

  • New Race/Class: Dracthyr Evoker
  • New Zone: The Forbidden Reach – Play through the starting zone for WoW’s newest hero class, the Dracthyr Evoker
  • New Dungeon: Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr
  • In-Game Events: Primal Storms – Ward off attacks from the Primalists with new quests and world events leading into Dragonflight’s launch

The first phase of the pre-patch rolled out the new systems such as the updated talent trees, profession system, HUD & UI enhancements and more.

Once the expansion launches, players will be able to reach level 70 and explore the mysterious Dragon Isles, ancestral home of the dragons of Azeroth. Surging with elemental magic and the life energies of Azeroth, the Isles are awakening once more, and it’s up to you to explore their primordial wonder and discover long-forgotten secrets.

With the launch on November 28th, players will be able to head into any one of eight dungeons. Four additional dungeons will be added before the end of the expansion. The first raid will be unlocked on all difficulty levels on December 13th.

Dragon Isles also feature a new form of aerial movement: Dragonriding. Explore the land and obtain four new Dragon Isles Drakes—unique, customizable mounts that can be truly made your own. With millions of possible combinations to choose from, no two Drakes are the same.
