Developer Blizzard Entertainment shared a new animated short dedicated to Liadrin, the Matriarch of the Blood Knights.
A part of the video shows her backstory: after her parents had been killed by the Amani trolls, Liadrin had been adopted by the High Priest Valdellor. Together with him and many other valiant High Elves, like their king Anasterian Sunstrider, Liadrin had been present during the worst time in thalassian history: the fall of Silvermoon and the corruption of Sunwell by Arthas Menethil.
Despite surviving the day, Liadrin did not come unscathed: not only did she have to kill Vandellor risen into undeath, she also lost her faith in the Light. What followed was a long journey in search of herself – and of the future for the newly-named Blood Elves, including imprisoning M’uru and forming the Blood Knights, and the subsequent cleansing of the Sunwell by Velen.
“Hope will dawn again. Throughout her life, Liadrin has had her faith in the Light tested in ways few have endured, but has become the Sunwell’s most stalwart protector throughout her journey of loss, despair, and retribution. Now, in Azeroth’s darkest hour, she stands against the Void, knowing that with the Light by her side, darkness will never prevail. Now is the time to make your stand.”
